Sonavyr

Vocal tuning with room for expression.

Shape a vocal with Natural’s expressive correction or Synthetic’s low-latency hard-tune. Two engines, one interface, and control over how each note lands.

One voice. Two directions.

Choose the character of correction.

01 / Natural

Keep the performance moving.

Adjust correction amount and speed, then shape vibrato, slides and note transitions with dedicated controls. Built for recorded vocals, editing and mixing.

Higher plugin latency: approximately 79–93 ms at Transpose 0 or below, depending on sample rate and Voice Range.

02 / Synthetic

Make every note intentional.

Use Lock and Snap for tight, robotic transitions and modern hard-tune. The lower-latency engine for vocal monitoring and performance.

10.7 ms or 22.8 ms plugin latency, depending on transpose.

Listen closely

Hear one performance three ways.

Compare the dry vocal with Natural and Synthetic on the same performance. Listen for movement within sustained notes and the way tuning changes from one note to the next. Choose the rap clip to compare Dry and Synthetic at Snap 0 ms.

Supplied renders, unchanged. Natural uses Correction speed 30 ms; Synthetic uses Snap 0 ms. These are correction speeds, not processing latency.

In the session

Correction, timing and tone.

Monophonic input
Designed for a single vocal melody, rather than chords or a complete mix.
Vibrato & slides
Shape expressive movement in Natural mode.
Snap speed
Controls the correction response. It is separate from plugin latency.
Transpose
Explore −12 to +12 semitones.
Formant behavior
Independent formant shift is available only at Transpose 0. At nonzero transpose, formants follow the pitch shift.
Two workflows
For engineers, self-recording producers and vocalists choosing between expressive correction and a hard-tuned effect.

Your notes. Your approach.

From the target to the detail.

Choose the notes that fit the song

Set a key and choose Chromatic, Major, natural Minor or a Custom scale. Select the allowed notes directly on the note ring when the song needs its own set of targets.

Control how correction feels

In Natural, Amount sets how much correction is applied and Speed sets how quickly the voice approaches the target. Open Advanced to shape transitions, slides, note onsets and releases. Tolerance leaves a small region around the note uncorrected.

In Synthetic, Lock sets the strength of the pull toward the note. Snap sets the transition speed, from an immediate hard-tune jump at 0 ms to a softer approach.

Shape pitch and vocal colour

Transpose up or down by as much as an octave. Detune shifts the note grid by up to 50 cents in either direction. In Natural, Formant changes vocal colour independently of pitch at Transpose 0. Otherwise, formants move with pitch.

See the correction as it happens

The note ring shows the detected note, target and pitch deviation. The correction strip follows incoming pitch, the target and intended corrected pitch. Natural’s Amount display shows both the amount you set and the correction being applied.

Keep the interface as simple as you need

Choose Simple, Standard or Advanced views. Resize the interface, compare two settings with A/B, and save your own presets. Presets carry sound settings while the song’s key, scale and custom notes stay with the session.

Made for one vocal line

Use Sonavyr on a single-pitch vocal performance, in mono or stereo. It follows one note at a time, rather than chords, stacked vocal parts or a complete mix.

Before you install

Compatibility, clearly stated.

Mac compatibility

Universal arm64 + x86_64 · macOS 11 or later. Mono → mono and stereo → stereo vocal tracks.

Planned formats: AU, VST3 and AAX. Final installer and host requirements will be confirmed when downloads open.

Synthetic supports 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz; other sample rates use Natural. Intel compatibility has been checked through Rosetta on Apple Silicon; testing on physical Intel Macs has not been confirmed. Standalone availability is not announced.

Plugin latency only. Total monitoring delay also depends on the interface, buffer and host. Natural has higher latency.

Mode, Transpose and Voice Range are not DAW-automatable. Changes that alter latency introduce a short silence while the engine fills its processing buffer.

Natural transposition can shift content timing relative to reported latency (up to about 6 ms early at +5 or 3 ms late at −5, and more at larger shifts). Synthetic at 96 kHz starts one sample after reported latency.

Synthetic correction may be less accurate on extreme low rap or very high, fast singing. At Transpose −12, very high vocals may contain gaps; use −5 or above to avoid this reported limitation. Formant shifting may give very high head-voice notes an unusual tone, with slight measured stereo widening.

Getting started

From installation to the first vocal.

  1. Check the release package

Confirm your Mac architecture, macOS and the format your host supports. Installer and activation instructions will accompany the approved distribution package.

  2. Open your session

Once installed, rescan plugins if required by your host and insert Sonavyr on a monophonic vocal track.

  3. Choose the musical direction

Use Natural for expressive studio correction or Synthetic for a hard-tuned sound. Set Key and Scale to the song, then adjust Amount and Speed in Natural or Lock and Snap in Synthetic.

  4. Listen in context

Compare with bypass at a matched level. Adjust vibrato and slides in Natural; consider transpose and the formant behavior before committing the sound.

A few useful answers

Before the next take.

Which engine should I choose?

Choose Natural for expressive studio correction with vibrato and slides controls. Choose Synthetic for robotic, musical hard tune and lower plugin latency.

Does 10.7 ms describe my complete monitoring delay?

No. It describes Synthetic plugin latency at Transpose −12 to 0. Your audio interface, buffer and host add their own delay. Snap speed is a different control.

Can I shift formants while transposing?

Independent formant shift is available at Transpose 0 only. At other transpose settings, formants follow the transposed pitch.

Can I purchase or download it now?

No. Sonavyr is coming soon. The planned price is $99 USD for a one-time perpetual license, with a 14-day FREE TRIAL; commercial details can still change.

What will the trial include?

The planned duration is 14 days. Trial limitations, activation allowance and upgrade entitlements have not been finalized.
